Best directions for car transport are from Znojmo taking the road to Podmolí (direction Mašovice), and further on to Lukov and a crossing with a road leading to the Nový Hrad forest, which is marked with a direction sign (by the bunker). Here – at the entrance to the territory of the Podyjí National Park – it is necessary to leave the car at the (unguarded) car park, and follow on foot or bicycle along the unmarked field path to the edge of the forest, where green tourist signs start. From there it is about 3 km to the ruin. Another way of approaching is from Vranov via Lesná and Horní Břečkov to the village of Lukov, in the area of which the ruin is located. At the edge of the village it is again necessary to leave the car or motorbike on an unguarded plot, and continue on foot or on bicycle (about 3.1 km) following the red tourist marking, which changes to green in the forest at a site called Příčky. Turning off this path in the forest is forbidden by the rules determining how visitors to the first zone of the Podyjí National Park should behave.

The closest public bus stops are located in the villages of Lukov (3.9 km from the ruin) and Podmolí (4.5 km from the ruin). The bus services to these villages run only from Znojmo. Travellers aiming for the western part of Podyjí must walk through Lukov and continue along a field track to Milíčovice (about 4 km) – to the bus stop on the Znojmo – Vranov nad Dyjí route.

The closest train stop is in Citonice (6 km from Lukov) and in Olbramkostel (6 km from Lukov). The closest stop for fast trains is in Šumná (8 km from Lukov).

The closest border crossing with Austria is in the village of Hnánice (23 km from Lukov). It is designated for cars, and is open all-year-round from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Using the nearby border crossing in Čížov – Hardegg, which is designated for walkers and cyclists only (6.5 km from Lukov) is possible between April 15 and November 2 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
